Current Philosophical Positions

Regarding Epistemology

Foundational Evidentialist. I accept that the starting point of knowledge is the senses and the information they provide is provisionally self-evident. All other justified beliefs are ultimately based on what we experience with the senses and belief should be proportional to the evidence.

Regarding God

Atheist. There is currently insufficient evidence to establish the existence of anything that can be reasonably given the label "god." The most likely explanations for "spiritual" phenomena are psychological in nature.

Regarding Morality

Utilitarian Secular Humanist. The happiness of rational beings is the ultimate value worth pursuing. This goal is best achieved through individual liberty, equality, science & critical thinking.

Regarding Politics

Independent. The liberal left favors equality and fairness while the conservative right favors individual freedom and choice but both groups fall short. We should favor societal happiness instead.

Regarding Free Will

Hard Determinist. The choice between Hard Determinism & Compatibilism is a false one since they operate with different working definitions of "free will." Both are correct as they each define terms. The concept of Indeterminism is incoherent.

Regarding Aesthetics

Subjective. There is no "universally good" style or kind of art. Judging a piece of art (painting, photo, film, sculpture, drama, game, etc) is a relative/subjective phenomenon between the art and the one enjoying it.

Note: Any and all philosophical positions I currently hold are subject to change if I am convinced otherwise. As a lover of truth, I can and will change my position when I am convinced that what I believe is wrong.
